Loren Eckhart, 97, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, under the compassionate care of The Waterford at Levis Commons.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 27, 1927, to Virgil and Thelma (Olinger) Eckhart, Loren lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and deep love for his family and country. A proud graduate of Woodward High School, he answered the call of duty at the young age of 17, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Loren served his country honorably as a combat veteran, an experience that shaped his life with courage and humility. He was honorably discharged from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and returned to Ohio to continue his education, earning a bachelor’s degree.
Loren spent his professional career at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Company, where he worked as a production scheduler, respected for his reliability and strong work ethic.
He married the love of his life, Helen Andryc, and together they built a beautiful life over 57 years of marriage. Their love and partnership were a source of strength and joy to all who knew them. Helen preceded Loren in death in 2012.
Loren leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience. He is survived by his children, David (Kathy) Eckhart, Bonnie Jagielo, and Cynthia, as well as many beloved grandchildren who will carry his memory forward with pride. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Thelma.
Inurnment will take place at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery at a later date.
